The past fifteen years of living in Wagga Wagga have been an incredible journey, defined by a thriving SMSF career, a loving family, and a strong connection to the community. Before relocating to Australia in 2009 year, I worked internationally as an accountant and auditor, gaining valuable experience in accounting & auditing for banks, charities, and a variety of businesses across India, New Zealand, and England.

My gratitude towards the incredible individuals who have guided and supported me in becoming an SMSF specialist is beyond what words can convey. Nevertheless, I am inspired to express my heartfelt appreciation and share my reflections to the best of my ability.

Employment Perspective
Easdowns Accountant and Adviser (Easdowns)
I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been given an opportunity by Easdowns partners and their management team in 2009. They opened the door for me to embark on a new career path in Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs), despite my initial lack of experience in this field.
Throughout my eight years at Easdowns, I held the role of SMSF Administrator and, through the opportunities provided by the partners, advanced to the position of SMSF Manager. I played a key role in SMSF administration, conducting SMSF audits and assisting offices with compliance queries. These experiences were instrumental in building my expertise and positioning me as a technical specialist in the SMSF industry.
I will always consider Easdowns the foundation of my professional journey in Australia, as they provided me with the opportunity to work in a highly professional accounting firm. Their guidance, support, and belief in my potential have been instrumental in my growth and success in becoming an SMSF specialist.
RSM (Wagga and Albury Offices)
In 2017, seeking opportunities to further challenge and enhance my knowledge and skills, I joined RSM’s Albury office. I am deeply grateful to RSM Albury office partners and their management team for welcoming me into one of Australia’s largest national firms. They provided me with the opportunity to collaborate with various RSM offices across the country, allowing me to experience the rich diversity within the SMSF field and expand my professional perspective. During this period, I had the privilege of conducting pre-audit reviews and audits for approximately 1,000 SMSFs every year, spanning a diverse range of offices and clients. This extensive experience allowed me to deepen my expertise in identifying compliance issues, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and providing valuable insights to support accurate and efficient SMSF operations.
In 2021, I had the privilege of joining the RSM Wagga office, thanks to the support of RSM Wagga office partners and their management team. They entrusted me with the responsibility of overseeing compliance work not only for the Wagga office but also for other RSM offices across Australia. Additionally, I was entrusted to contribute to the RSM National SMSF Audit team, overseeing some of the SMSF audit clients across Eastern Australia.
Over my seven years with RSM, I encountered valuable opportunities and challenges that significantly expanded my expertise in both SMSF compliance and SMSF auditing. This experience has been pivotal in helping me further specialise in the SMSF field, solidifying my skills and deepening my understanding of this complex and dynamic area.
The Journey of Experience Unveiled
Over the past twelve years, I have been extensively involved in supporting multiple offices with their SMSF compliance and audit work. My responsibilities have encompassed a wide range of activities, including conducting SMSF processing, performing pre-audit reviews for numerous funds, SMSF audits, undertaking strategic reviews of investment structures, and addressing compliance issues across various offices.
These experiences have provided invaluable opportunities for growth and significantly deepened my knowledge. To date, I have successfully completed approximately 7,000 SMSF audits, 4,000 SMSF pre-audit reviews, and processed 1,500 SMSFs, reinforcing my dedication to delivering exceptional service in the SMSF sector.
In addition to my technical expertise in SMSF compliance, I am highly proficient with key software platforms such as Class, BGL 360 and SuperMate. This expertise enables me to efficiently access and prepare the necessary reports for audits and reviews, streamlining processes and saving accountants valuable time, while enhancing the overall efficiency of SMSF services.
